"Summer" peels: depending on the skin type

Rules of conduct: before, during and after the procedure

We have the opportunity to develop effective and safe summer comprehensive programs for our patients. If the following rules are followed, they will bring aesthetic satisfaction to patients and ensure the prevention of photodamage to the skin during hyperinsolation.

For patients with hyperpigmentation, the main goal in the summer is to prevent increased pigment formation. Such patients are forbidden to sunbathe and use peelings throughout the season! The prevention of increased pigment is the adequate use of sunscreen cosmetics and biorevitalization procedures that increase the biological resource of the dermis.

For patients with oily skin prone to rashes, chemical peels during this period are also undesirable. However, taking into account the positive effect of glycolic acid on such skin and the fact that the skin is dense and usually not very sensitive, we can recommend to patients the use of cosmetic products with a concentration of glycolic acid up to 8% in the evening in home care, with the mandatory use of sunscreen cosmetics in the morning.

Patients with sensitive skin and an inadequately enhanced reaction to minimal irritation in the period of hyperinsolation should, first of all, choose maximum protection from the sun's rays. This is due to a violation of the integrity of the epidermal barrier and a decrease in its protective functions, dehydration and an increased risk of acute photodamage of the skin.

A similar situation exists for patients with dry skin. It also needs increased antioxidant protection, intensive hydration and punctual use of sunscreen cosmetics.

The least risky is the use of glycolic and combined peels in the summer for patients with normal and combined skin type (oily - normal) with minor manifestations of photoinduced and chronoaging.
