Diagnosis of skin type: to the issue of individualization of care programs

The development of individual programs requires the cosmetologist not only to possess a wide range of methods and techniques, but also to use them correctly. For the maximum individualization of the performed therapy, it is absolutely necessary to take into account the type of skin, its condition, the nature of aging, the characteristics of the patient's lifestyle and other circumstances.
At first glance, there should not be any difficulties in the diagnosis of skin type and objective assessment of its condition, however, in practice, unpleasant mistakes often occur, which can sometimes be associated with unclear diagnostic criteria, incorrect interpretation of skin reactions and, as a result, discrediting a number of highly effective cosmetology procedures.
Inaccurate definition of the skin type or nature of its aging, neglect of the status praesens dooms the most brilliant rejuvenation therapy to failure, as it contradicts the constitutionally determined features of the skin.
A classification based on four actively interconnected characteristics of the skin - oiliness, moisture, tone and elasticity - seems quite convenient. These indicators are related to the morphofunctional structures of the skin, which determine the algorithm of its vital activity.
