In this article, I propose to plunge into the world of memories when you started training your profession in the beauty industry. What did you feel? Were you confident? What criteria were used to select the training center?

Once a year, we conduct a survey among students in order to find out from what sources of information they learned about us? How did you decide to study with us? What was the most important thing in making the decision?

Getting an education in the beauty industry should be classified as an intangible type of service marketing. A distinctive feature of this type of marketing is that the consumer, before the start of training, finds it difficult to determine the quality of the service provided to him. That is, we can get an answer to the question of whether a person is satisfied with the training only after completing the course, and sometimes much later.

Positioning yourself: every detail matters

To convince your potential student that you are the best and that he can get a quality education from you, the following set of tools will help.

The image of the training center . Image is how potential customers and real competitors should see you. It is one of the most important factors when deciding to get an education in the beauty industry. The image of the training center should be divided into external and internal. Everything is important here: from interaction with other organizations to relationships within the company. Image motto: "It is impossible to make a first impression a second time."

Advertising. Another factor that characterizes you should be the correct choice of promoting your service. For example, we can't imagine a thousand-dollar basic course set posted at a trolley stop.

Nowadays, the most effective means of promotion is the Internet. It is available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Thanks to social networks, you can familiarize a potential student with your training center. The cost will depend on the choice of social media advertising tools. There are also free ways to promote, such as mass following and mass liking, even the help of your friends and customers can be the first push for advertising. The choice of social networks should be matched to your region.

financial factor . Agree that only for a small percentage of people the cost does not matter. Image and advertising go by the wayside if the cost of your course is overestimated tenfold. Many novice masters are not ready to invest large sums of money in a result in which they are not sure.

Human factor. In particular, in our academy it is very important in the process of interaction with the consumer of the service. And it is also an integral part of the beginning of the educational process.

Orderly, complete and reliable presentation of course information :

  • clarification of preferences in the provision of information to the consumer of the service;
  • learning process;
  • providing advice and assistance in entering a new profession after completing the course.

And now I will offer practical advice based on our experience. So, in our training center, we offer two types of basic course.

The first is to complete the entire course in ten days. The permanent makeup base course includes pigmentology, make-up, hand placement on artificial skin and on models. Eyebrows: hair technique (four types of hair styling) and pigment spraying. Eyelids: classic arrow, interlash and shadow shading of eyebrows. Lips: watercolor technique and dense coloring. This type of training is suitable for colleagues who come to study from other countries and cities.

In the basic course of the second type, we suggest going through only the eyebrows (six days), and then after a month, continue learning how to work with the lips and eyelids. Thus, the master will be able to feel the skin, understand how to interact with clients, and, of course, in a month he will have new questions that do not arise in the basic course. Another advantage of such training is that it is not as noticeable financially as taking all the training in one go.

Being a teacher in our profession is easy only if the master lives in this business. Another secret of successful activity is not to stand still and learn what is included in the system of concepts about the beauty and correctness of the teacher.

Learning should be fun

Perhaps many will agree that at school we often loved subjects because of the pleasant presentation of it by the teacher. There are several correct ways of interaction between a teacher and a student, with the help of which one can achieve success.

Mastery . Everything is simple: you need to be a professional in your field. It makes you want to learn from you.

Appearance of the teacher. Here the style in clothes, appropriate makeup is important. Correctly chosen tones in clothes and accessories will not hurt the eyes or simply distract students.

The process of identifying approaches to students. In my experience, some people are more productive after being praised, while others are only more productive when they point out mistakes.

The “educator” model of teaching is completely unsuitable in our region. We are loyal to all students, as they are already established personalities. After all, people of different ages and with different life experiences come to us to study.

In the basic course, a lot of information can be given in the form of homework. At the moment, on the Internet you can find the Fitzpatrick table, the Itten color wheel, or a detailed anatomy of the layers of the skin. After all, when a person has invested time and effort to find information, read and prepare to tell it, this significantly increases the level of assimilation of the material than just a sheet with a ready-made answer.

Many students try to get ahead of themselves, ask questions that are provided for by the program a little later. It is very important to stick to the introduction plan and not jump from one topic to another so that the chain of sequence is not lost. It is enough to answer the student that we will reach this topic. After each piece of information, you should ask: are there any questions, is everything clear? Questions of a personal nature can be discussed during the break.

Don't underestimate the importance of intonation. For high concentration, a calm, quiet timbre of the voice is suitable.

For more productive assimilation of the material, we alternate the theoretical part with the practical one. For example, forty minutes of theory followed by one hour of practice.

Your training should not consist of promoting materials from the brand you represent or work for. Colleagues should have a choice. And to make a decision, you need to have all the basic information about the equipment and pigments. So that, even if the master is at an exhibition in another country, he knows by the composition of the pigments whether he needs this product. This applies not only to pigments, but also to devices, removers, new needles, anesthesia and other permanent makeup products.
