Diagnosis and treatment of drug allergies: how to avoid mistakes
Drug doses and doctor's tactics are determined by the clinical picture

The side effects of medications today are comparable in negative effect to their therapeutic potential. Drug allergies cannot currently be cured, but a significant proportion of their cases can be prevented.
Nosological and etiological diagnosis of drug allergy in typical cases, when the patient takes several drugs, is quite difficult. The frequency of diagnostic errors in such cases reaches 30–50%, which is associated with the polymorphism of the clinical picture of drug allergy, incorrect assessment of the anamnesis, errors in the interpretation of clinical and laboratory data, and difficulties in identifying drug allergy.
Clinical and anamnestic diagnostics should be used wherever medications are prescribed (from the paramedical and obstetrician's station to the multidisciplinary hospital).
When conducting a patient survey, it is imperative to take into account the specifics of toxic, pseudoallergic, and allergic reactions to the drug.
