Drug allergy: diagnosis, prevention, and treatment

The danger of developing allergic reactions lurks for every doctor, so we all need to be fully armed to prevent irreversible consequences.
According to WHO statistics, in developed countries, 15–35% of the population suffers from allergic diseases, which represent a major social and economic problem. The rapid increase in the incidence is associated with many factors: environmental hazards, social and family stress, adverse living conditions, unhealthy diet, the presence of bad habits, etc.
Among the reasons for the increase in the frequency of side effects of drugs, in particular drug allergies, typical for Ukraine, we can name:
- intensification of chemotherapy of diseases;
- shortcomings of the healthcare system.
Adverse reaction – any unwanted negative reaction that occurs when using a drug in usual doses recommended for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment of diseases or for the purpose of modifying the physiological functions of the body. According to Rawling M. D., Tompson J.W. (1991), adverse reactions are divided into several subspecies.
