Cosmetology and allergy: how to prevent complications
The main task of a dermatocosmetologist is the correct selection of an individual care program and cosmetic products
When choosing cosmetics, our patients are still guided first of all by the prestige or popularity of a specific brand, then by the beautiful packaging, and only lastly by the composition of the product. Such carelessness often causes the development of allergic reactions.
The problem of allergic diseases is one of the most relevant in modern medicine. 35–40% of the world's population suffers from various allergic diseases, while a significant group is made up of patients with allergic skin diseases. It is noted that the number of allergic dermatoses tends to increase by an average of 5–7% per year. The steady increase in morbidity is explained by a number of objective reasons: the wide distribution of chemicals in everyday life and in production, the ever-growing list of medicines, the deterioration of the ecological situation, which leads to the latent, chronic course of viral and bacterial infections, distortion of immunological reactions.
In the case of the occurrence of an allergic component, the clinical course of the main disease changes significantly, while the allergic complication becomes more severe than the disease itself. Cosmetic products today are an integral part of a whole set of measures aimed at cleaning and improving the aesthetic appearance of the skin and its appendages (hair, nails). Each person regularly uses 4-6 or more types of cosmetic products.
