Trendy “spider legs” effect on eyelashes: how to achieve it
the hit of the season
The time when glued eyelashes were considered a major mistake when creating makeup is long gone. The “spider legs” effect on eyelashes is at the peak of popularity in 2020, and we are in a hurry to tell you how to create it.
Eye makeup in 2020 attracts all the attention, so when choosing what to focus on in makeup, bet on the eyes - you won’t go wrong. Bold shades of shadows, graphic arrows, minimum shading and maximum contrast - we take note of all these techniques to create fashionable eye makeup this year.
It is not surprising that the trends have not spared eyelashes, which, as a rule, receive little attention. The effect of sticky eyelashes, as if you just got out of the shower, will appeal to girls who love experiments. “Spider legs” will fit not only into careless makeup in the grunge style - they will wonderfully complement natural makeup without bright color accents or an image with spectacular lip makeup. The main rule is to apply mascara liberally to your eyelashes, without sparing.
This trend was first used by the legendary British model Leslie Hornby - Twiggy. She proved that clumping lashes can look beautiful, making your eyes appear more expressive and your eyes wide open. Makeup artists continue to apply this trend at fashion shows and other fashion events, adding innocence and childlike naivety to images. Among the fans of this technique are the well-known Pat McGrath and Peter Philips. To figure out how to properly apply spider-leg eyelashes, what mascara to choose and what additional beauty products you will need for this, we turned to makeup artist Alena Semenets.

Eye makeup with the effect of “spider legs” on eyelashes has been around for a long time. It was first used in the 60s by model Twiggy. In this case, mascara is applied so that the eyelashes stick together, making the image touching and childishly charming.
Of course, this option for eyelash design is not suitable for everyone and not for every style. Not every girl would risk going to work with such makeup! As for the party, in this case such a make-up will be very appropriate, especially in combination with bright lipstick. In order for spider-leg eyelashes to look stylish, you need to follow some rules: an ideal even complexion tone (particular attention should be paid to the area under the eyes), no bright shadows, and as natural eyebrows as possible.
How to dye spider-leg eyelashes
Creating the effect of spider legs on your eyelashes is quite easy. It is enough to have mascara for volume (it contains more wax, due to which the eyelashes gain volume). Mascara must be of high quality, since with any type of makeup, crumbling lumps look sloppy and spoil the impression of the image as a whole.
If you still need to touch up your makeup, you can use cotton swabs, trying not to remove the tone. You need to paint the eyelashes from the roots using zigzag movements. You can powder the first layer and then apply mascara again, after which you can glue the eyelashes together with tweezers. You can also paint your eyelashes by holding the brush vertically - this way they stick together more easily.
Alternatively, you can use colored mascara and put eye shadow on top of it. For example, paint the upper eyelashes with blue mascara, and decorate the lower ones with orange or pink. It will look very creative!
