Cocktail makeup: features of creation
What to pay attention to
Cocktail makeup is something between daytime and evening makeup with bright accents and a free interpretation. How to create cocktail makeup and what to pay attention to - we understand the material.
Cocktail makeup is perfect for almost any entertaining event - a party, music festival, romantic dinner, as well as for important celebrations - a birthday, wedding or graduation if your client is not the hero of the occasion and does not need a full evening or wedding makeup.
As a rule, cocktail makeup is distinguished by one or more bright elements. This could be a rich shade of lipstick, colorful eyeliner, glitter on the lips or draping on the cheekbones. You can modernize and transform cocktail makeup in accordance with your tastes or the tastes of your client/customer, so the fact remains that a makeup artist without the ability to perform this type of makeup is nowhere.
Face makeup
Of course, you should start with facial makeup. After skincare, apply a primer based on the client's or model's skin type, then use foundation. The ideal tone is the key to beautiful cocktail makeup, because painting on a blank canvas is much easier and more enjoyable. However, please note that the foundation should be very light and weightless, and not create a mask effect on the face.
If necessary, use corrector and concealer, then set your makeup with loose powder. A blush that matches your lipstick or a bronzer that gives a tan effect will help complete your makeup. Highlight the prominent areas of your face with a highlighter, but don’t overdo it – too bright a glow is no longer in fashion.
Whether to perform full contouring in cocktail makeup is up to you. In any case, it should be visually light makeup, so it is recommended to only carefully highlight natural shadows.
Eyebrow and eye makeup
Using a brush, comb the eyebrows upward and apply strokes with a pencil, slightly extend the tail of the eyebrow, then fix the hairs with gel. Emphasize the lower edge of the eyebrow using a brush with concealer.
Let's move on to eye makeup. As a first step, don’t forget to apply a base under the shadows and set it with powder. We perform eye makeup that suits the event and will harmoniously highlight the girl’s appearance. This could be smokey eyes in brown tones, bright mono-shades, metallic on the eyelids, colorful eyeliner and other elements that would be appropriate.
Whatever cocktail eye makeup option you choose, don’t forget to generously coat your eyelashes with mascara. Highlight the inner corners of your eyes with highlighter or shimmering shadows.
Cocktail lip makeup
For cocktail makeup, bright lips are an ideal and desirable element. Fuchsia, classic red, plum or cherry – rich shades of lipstick are great for this occasion. Carefully and meticulously work on the contour so that the lip shape is perfect.
Nude and translucent pink-peach shades on the lips also work if the main emphasis is on the eyes. Lipstick or tinted lip gloss with a glossy finish - the choice is yours.
