Post-procedural care: the importance of following general guidelines
Who are you - a strict cosmetologist or a qualified specialist?
The first questions that arise in the patient's head after the procedure performed in the cosmetology office are: "What are the recommendations for skin care in the post-procedure period?" And when they hear these recommendations, where there are many restrictions that affect their usual daily life, the next question is: "Why exactly these recommendations?"
Let's answer each "Why?" to all points of our recommendations (now we will consider generally accepted post-procedural recommendations). So, we begin to interpret each point.
- Be sure to use a cream with a high SPF (minimum 30) before going outside and reapply every 2-4 hours.
Why? Because all sunscreens lose their protective properties a few hours after application. In addition, many different reactions occur on the skin, we sweat and habitually touch our face with our hands.
- Refrain from visiting the solarium.
Why? After aggressive procedures, the skin already loses its protective barriers (hydrolipid mantle and lipid barrier), it becomes very vulnerable, losing local immunity. And active ultraviolet radiation will worsen the condition of the skin and lead to dehydration, dryness and accelerate premature aging (photoaging). I also remind you that long-term exposure to unprotected skin of ultraviolet rays can cause cell mutations and lead to the development of a number of diseases, including melanoma (skin cancer).
