Now many people are interested in separate meals. Someone tries to lose weight this way, someone just takes care of their health. However, despite the considerable popularity of separate nutrition, scientists' opinions about it are far from unequivocal. Let's figure it out together.

Separate nutrition is the separate use of chemically incompatible products. In other words, it is the use of certain products at different meals and after certain intervals of time. A special variant of separate nutrition is the use of different groups of products (meat, dairy, vegetable and others) on different days.

William Hay and Herbert Shelton can be considered the founders of currently active approaches to separate nutrition, although their recommendations do not coincide in many respects.

The theory of separate nutrition is based on ideas about the compatibility and incompatibility of products and the harmfulness to health of using combinations of certain products. According to the principles of separate nutrition, all products are divided into 17 groups.

Products belonging to the same group are fully compatible with each other. The concept of product compatibility is based on ideas about the digestive characteristics of different products in the alimentary canal and the adverse effect on digestion and human health of mixed food.
