Coconut oil in skin care
What is important for specialists to consider?

Coconut oil is one of the most talked-about ingredients in the mass market and among beauty bloggers. It is often recommended for use on the face, body, hair, in cooking, and even for dental care. However, in professional cosmetology, it is necessary to clearly distinguish between popular advice and the real properties of the ingredient.
Coconut oil is indeed an interesting and useful ingredient, but only in certain situations.
When coconut oil can be useful
Coconut oil contains a unique combination of fatty acids, mostly saturated.
Thanks to this, it:
- creates a nourishing occlusive film on the surface of the skin;
- helps retain moisture and maintain water balance;
- partially compensates for lipid deficiency - natural or acquired;
- contains lauric acid, which has a moderate anti-inflammatory effect.
