Post-injection reactions: complications and side effects after mesotherapy

After all injection procedures, there is a risk of developing unexpected reactions, and mesotherapy is no exception. The consequences of the procedure are influenced by various factors, many of which depend on the patient's body. Therefore, it is important for a specialist to know not only about the benefits of the procedures, but also about all possible consequences.
The main pharmacotherapeutic action of drugs may be accompanied by additional effects that are not of pharmacological value and are therefore considered undesirable. Such effects are referred to as side effects. They are predictable, do not lead to a deterioration in the patient's condition and resolve on their own, without any therapy. In particular, side effects are symptoms of inflammation that develops in the skin in response to mechanical injury with a needle - there is activation of cellular structures that provide the barrier function of the skin.
Inflammation always has a clear and consistent stage:
- alteration (damage to the skin);
- exudation (activation and release of biologically active substances);
- proliferation (final stage).
In the exudation stage, lymphocytes and macrophages migrate to the area of skin damage. These cells have high resorption activity and the ability to phagocytosis. They contain a wide range of hydrolytic enzymes and carry out intracellular digestion of foreign antigens. Plasma cells, immune cells that produce immunoglobulin antibodies, are activated and increase in number.
Let's talk about the side effects that can be observed with mesotherapy.
