What does hyaluronic acid provide in skin care?
An ingredient with deserved popularity

Whether you're just starting out in cosmetology or are already well-versed in skincare and products, hyaluronic acid is one ingredient worth knowing about. Thanks to its anti-aging, moisturizing, and "tightening" properties, it's a popular ingredient in many cosmetic formulas.
What is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid, or HA, can also be called hyaluronan or hyaluronate. It is present in various tissues of the human body and can have different molecular sizes.
Despite the natural presence of HA, the amount of pure hyaluronic acid in the body is small. For example, in a woman weighing approximately 70 kg, the total amount of pure HA will be only about 15 grams.
Why is hyaluronic acid good for the skin?
Hyaluronic acid has a number of important cosmetic benefits, one of the key of which is its ability to protect cells from free radical damage.
The high concentration of hyaluronic acid in the epidermis plays a critical role in the processes of skin renewal. When its level decreases, a negative chain process is triggered:
Inflammatory reactions increase;
- The skin's protective functions are weakened;
- The skin's ability to retain moisture is worse;
- The healing processes are disrupted;
- elasticity decreases.
