Permanent makeup has been on the market for a long time and the technique has undergone changes during its existence. During the evolution, not only the quality of the procedure has increased, but many unsuccessful works have also accumulated. Removing a tattoo is not an easy task. Let's discuss how to avoid undesirable consequences.

Permanent makeup has been on the market for a long time and during its existence the technique has undergone changes: generations of masters have changed, application techniques have appeared and disappeared, as well as equipment and pigments for PM. A lot of unsuccessful works have accumulated on the market - made with pigments that are not intended for use on the face, or with a shape that absolutely does not meet the rules of construction. Also, over time, permanent makeup could lose saturation, change color, lose contours, which is the result of using low-quality pigments or improper tattoo care at the healing stage.

There are various methods for removing low-quality or annoying tattoos. In the recent past, infrared therapy, excision or resurfacing were used for this. All of these methods were associated with a violation of the integrity of the skin, were quite painful. Progressive cosmetology offers a more effective method of removing permanent makeup today - effective and safe laser removal.

Nuances that guarantee results

The procedure for laser removal of permanent makeup is based on the property of laser radiation with certain wavelengths to selectively act on dyes - pigments that were introduced into the skin during the procedure. The removal process is based on photothermolysis, which consists in the ability of the laser to selectively react to the pigment and destroy it without damaging the surrounding tissues and the hairline. The appearance of scars and scars is also excluded.

The procedure for laser tattoo removal begins with determining the type of dye and the depth of its occurrence. The device acts pointwise with a focused laser beam on the pigment and destroys it. After that, the remnants of the pigment are absorbed by phagocytes and excreted from the body naturally with the help of the lymphatic system.

Now several lasers are used, which are based on the principle of selective photoactivation. Depending on the type, the laser can generate a beam of waves of different lengths. Since the pigment may have previously been injected at different depths, the wavelength of the laser beam is important and must be adjusted for each individual case, it is also important to take into account the color of the pigment. Warm shades are removed with a wave of 532 nm, cold shades - with 1064 nm.

Also, when removing tattoos of a certain color and the depth of the coloring pigment, the color of the laser beam is also important. For dark green, dark blue and black dyes, a 1064nm infrared laser is recommended. In the case of its use, pigmentation changes are very rare, and the depth of the pigment and the color saturation do not matter. To remove red, yellow and orange tones, experts choose the 532nm green laser. It is important to bear in mind that this type of laser is not always able to remove deep-seated pigment.

When the laser interacts with a pigment containing iron oxide and titanium dioxide, sometimes warm shades can become darker (for example, a red or pink tint of PM lips can turn into gray).

Removal is not easy

The number of PM removal sessions can vary from 2 to 12 and depends on a number of factors. So, the speed of removing pigment from the skin with a laser is affected by the execution technique - powder eyebrows can be removed in 1 session, lip tattooing in 3-4 sessions, and at least 7-8 procedures will be required to remove an old tattoo. In addition, the quality of removal is affected by the type and condition of the skin, the ability of the patient's skin to regenerate, the presence of scars, the composition of the pigment, the density and depth of its introduction, and the layering of paint (if overlap was previously carried out).

It is important to remember that dark pigment is easier to remove; the better the pigment - the easier it goes; the closer to the surface the dye is introduced, the fewer procedures will be required to remove it.

Since permanent makeup can be carried out with a mix of dyes of different colors that absorb laser radiation with different wavelengths, in addition to the wavelength, for maximum efficiency of laser removal of PM, it is important to choose the right duration of the laser pulse. The correct choice of the wavelength and pulse frequency allows the dye granules to be split into microparticles.

The tattooed area is treated with a special focusing nozzle. The smaller the light spot, the less painful the patient feels during the procedure. For local anesthesia of the skin, a special attachment is used to the apparatus for contact cooling.

Upon completion of the procedure, the skin on the laser-treated area turns a little red, after which a crust forms on this site, the healing of which lasts for several weeks. The first procedure allows you to remove the most superficial layer of pigment. It is also the most efficient. This is due to the fact that the concentration of pigment in the skin during the first procedure is maximum and decreases during the destruction of the pigment granules by the laser. The less pigment remains in the skin, the less its absolute amount is destroyed during subsequent procedures.

Removal of deeper layers of the dye occurs in the course of subsequent procedures, which can be carried out only by the complete restoration of the treated area of the skin.

Be professional!

Removing a tattoo is a complex procedure. For this, the master will need to undergo preliminary specialized training, purchase a high-quality apparatus, equip his office or salon accordingly. The client will have to visit the master's office more than once. If your client decides to completely and irrevocably remove the tattoo, you should warn him that this will take more time and money than applying it.

Laser technologies delicately eliminate the consequences of incorrect or unprofessional tattooing, for example, the deplorable results of incorrect dye injection technique, a damaged arrow shape or lip contour, unnatural eyebrow color.

Laser procedures are safe, but have a number of contraindications, among which the absolute ones are:

  • • injuries and diseases of the skin in the affected area;
  • cardiovascular and acute infectious diseases;
  • epilepsy;
  • oncology;
  • pregnancy.

With the correct selection of the wavelength and pulse duration of laser radiation, as well as with careful observance by the patient of the pre- and post-procedural regimen, the laser is the most effective and less traumatic of the methods of permanent makeup removal proposed to date.
