Permanent tattooing has been known in Ukraine for many years and is becoming increasingly popular. The requirements for the quality of procedures are also increasing. Gone are the days when women, seeking to improve their appearance in a previously unknown way and attracted by a small price, did not pay attention to the conditions in which permanent makeup was performed. Now many clients, experienced in the intricacies of cosmetology, are closely following the work of the master. They want the load on the skin to be minimal, that there is no swelling and deformation, that the procedure is performed on the most modern equipment, first-class pigments, that anesthesia is correctly selected, and pre- and post-procedure maintenance is competently carried out.

Unfortunately, sometimes the claims of clients far exceed their competence, which is expressed in the desire to dictate their requirements to the tattoo artist, despite their obvious contradiction with the laws of makeup artistry and good taste. In this case, the specialist cannot fully demonstrate his skills and finds himself, as they say, between two fires: on the one hand, opposition to the wishes of the client causes indignation of the director of the salon, on the other hand, professional pride and ethics do not allow thoughtlessly fulfilling the client’s whims to the detriment the quality of work. Very often, momentary financial interest wins, and insufficient professionalism does not allow you to defend your opinion in front of the client, which does her a disservice - because with her rash decision she forms her image for the coming months.

Fair claims often arise to the quality of the work of tattoo artists. We see blurred and smeared lines on the eyelids on the faces, incorrectly performed tattooing of the lip contour, a sharp change in the color of the eyebrows after tattooing up to red or blue. The reasons for these unfortunate failures are obvious. Most often, this is a low professional level of tattoo artists who lack basic knowledge of makeup, cosmetology and medicine. If they receive short-term training from unqualified "teachers", good results are certainly not to be expected.

From sketch to proper care

The most important stages of permanent tattooing are the creation of a sketch, high-quality pigmentation and the exclusion of skin reactions. Tattoo artist mistakes made at any of these stages can lead to serious problems.

Wrong makeup sketch is the business card of an amateur. Here, the talent and skill of a specialist are especially clearly manifested. Permanent tattoo should not look like an alien coloring. To make it look natural, the tattoo master corrects the lines of the face, taking into account the individual and age characteristics of the appearance and using special techniques. So, eyebrow tattooing includes the study of its shape, contour and individual hairs. To preserve the effect of volume, you need to moderately shade the background. The same applies to the lip contour tattoo, which should be highlighted with a light highlight, choosing the right color, and finished with a natural-looking slight tint.

If the permanent makeup master does not have sufficient knowledge about pigments and applies the wrong tone, pigmentation defects occur. The choice of pigment for tattooing is determined primarily by the natural color of the client's skin. Unwanted discoloration may be the result of an unprofessional procedure. They can be corrected, but it is better to exclude the very possibility of their appearance by raising the professional level of the masters. The label of the pigments used must indicate their composition, numbers of sanitary safety certificates and an index on the color scale. Pigments must be certified.

The third important problem of permanent tattooing is the risk of infection and skin reactions. It occurs when aseptic and antiseptic rules are violated or when incompatible products are used. Modern high-tech tattoo equipment is usually tested, has a safety certificate or is manufactured at certified medical equipment factories. It does not allow leakage of pigments to avoid accidental infection.

For permanent tattooing, only sterile disposable needles and tips should be used, or, even better, completely safe new hygiene modules that combine a needle and a cap. Disinfectants must be effective against AIDS and hepatitis A, B and C. The individual tolerance of the agents used must be checked very carefully. The experience of professionals indicates that the combined use of products leads to the fact that the lymphatic system of the skin recognizes the pigment as a foreign body and tries to remove it with the help of inflammation. This can cause dangerous reactions: peeling of the lips, swelling and suppuration of the skin up to the centers of its destruction around the eyes. To avoid these dangerous phenomena, it is better to use alcohol-based liquid anesthetics.

The price of quality

Naturally, the high quality of permanent tattooing requires high costs. That is why the services of masters offering these procedures at low prices can be unsafe. Thus, the main problems of permanent tattooing are the dilettantism of masters resulting from superficial training, as well as the use of cheap low-quality consumables. It is necessary to constantly improve the skills of the master, because his work, the results of which the client will “wear” for a long time, must be valuable in the literal and figurative sense. It is sometimes useful for a micropigmentation specialist to fantasize whether he agrees to temporarily switch faces with his client after permanent makeup. If so, then the quality of work is optimal. If the master does not like this idea, then the client will not like the new make-up either.
