Preparation for the chemical peeling procedure
What a specialist should not miss when working with acids
The peeling procedure is carried out by almost every specialist. Let's consider how to properly prepare a patient for a peeling procedure.
Pre-peeling assessment
History should include general medical history, level of sun exposure, occupational data to judge sun exposure, history of herpes simplex, recent treatment with isotretinoin in the last 6 months (for medium and deep peels), tendency to keloid formation, predisposition to current medication, previous surgical treatment, immunodeficiency states, smoking.
In patients who are scheduled for phenol peeling, it is necessary to collect an anamnesis about systemic diseases, especially cardiovascular ones.
A detailed medical examination should include a somatic examination, a skin examination, including determination of skin phototype, degree of photodamage, activity of sebaceous glands, presence of post-traumatic hyperpigmentation, keloids or hypertrophic scars, infections preceding inflammation.
