Nanotechnology in modern cosmetology: the issue of substance penetration
Application of nanoparticles in cosmetics

Since the emergence of the concept of "nanotechnology" in medicine and cosmetology, there has been an ongoing debate about the safety and effectiveness of these products. But do nanoparticles penetrate the skin?
The possibility of penetration of nanoparticles into the skin has been studied for such nanomaterials as liposomes, solid particles of titanium oxide and zinc oxide, solid lipid nanoparticles, and some others.
Thus, opponents of the innovative direction of using nanotechnology in cosmetology claim that applying a cosmetic product with a UV filter containing TiO2 and ZnO to the skin leads to the penetration of particles deep into the dermis and into the bloodstream. However, modern research refutes this hypothesis.
But then the question arises: how exactly do "nanocarriers" perform their function, the task of which is, in fact, to penetrate the deep layers of the skin? When commenting on this question, the first thing to pay attention to is the size of the nanoparticles used to deliver biomolecules to the skin.
