If you feel like 24 hours a day are too short, that you are incapable of anything and don't have time for anything, if you used to enjoy working with patients, but now you have no energy, don't feel like doing anything, you have started sleeping poorly, and you notice that you are gaining or losing weight faster than usual, stop and read this article.

It is probably not worth talking about why this syndrome is becoming increasingly relevant - the main thing it affects is the emotional sphere, and therefore the quality of a person's life in general. First of all, professionals who work with people, including specialists in the field of medicine, suffer from SEB.

The term “burnout” as a separate condition was only popularized in 1974 by the American psychiatrist of German origin, Herbert Freudenberg, as a new direction in the study of stress. He called it burnout – literally “exhaustion”, “fatigue”, “burning out”.

Let us now consider how the emotional burnout syndrome arises in a person. Since the name of the syndrome also contains the word “emotional”, the main issue is the deformation of the emotional sphere of the personality. And SEB, thus, can be considered as a psychological defense mechanism developed by the personality in the form of complete or partial exclusion of emotions in response to certain psychotraumatic actions.
