How to treat body acne?
The latest approach, biofilms and biotechnology

Body acne is associated with a higher risk of depression, suicidal thoughts, social limitations, and lack of or impaired sex life. It is not only physically uncomfortable, but also a significant psychological burden.
How common is body acne?
Acne and breakouts below the neck are much more common than you might think. About 60% of the population in Western countries suffers from body acne, and 15% have active chronic acne on the chest.
50% of acne sufferers have both facial and body acne, but more than 25% hide this information from their doctors and even friends.
What is the difference between facial acne and body acne?
Although both are caused by an overgrowth of the bacteria Cutibacterium acnes, which causes inflammation, there are several key differences between the two types.
- Difference 1: Sebum production and quality
Facial acne is characterized by excessive sebum production and changes in its composition. However, the sebaceous glands on the body are much less developed and almost nonexistent on the lower body.
For this reason, products that reduce sebum production are less effective in treating body acne.
