A lot of bans apply specifically to the perfume industry:
- essential oils;
- aromatic extracts;
- natural perfume components.
Usually the reason for the ban is an irritant effect or photosensitization.
Examples of banned aroma ingredients:
- juniper essential oil;
- fig leaf oil;
- black mustard essential oil;
- Peruvian balsam;
- verbena;
- sassafras, etc.
This is a sensitive topic for perfumers, as many components have been produced by small family businesses for centuries.
