Men's skin has its own characteristics that affect the appearance and severity of the symptoms of chrono- and photoaging. These anatomical features require compliance with the rules during botulinum toxin injections in men.

The history of the use of botulinum toxin type A in aesthetic medicine begins precisely with the history of accidental correction of wrinkles in the corners of the eye. At the end of the nineties of the last century, during clinical trials of a drug for the treatment of blephorospasm (involuntary closing of the eyelids), one of the patients asked the doctor to perform an injection from the side of the healthy eye.

Despite the highest frequency of botulinum toxin injections in aesthetic medicine, many years of experience in correction, in some cases we do not achieve the ideal result. Correction of botulinum toxin in male patients remains quite difficult, since often the request for correction of mimic wrinkles of the upper third of the face is the first and, in fact, the only one in men at the initial appointment.

The modern approach to the use of botulinum toxin in the general complex of facial harmonization techniques consists in simultaneous work with the muscles of the face at all levels - the so-called full face approach. Its essence lies in the relaxation of the depressor muscles of the upper and lower third of the face and the harmonization of the work of the levator muscles.
