According to independent estimates, more than 1 million people suffer from psoriasis in Ukraine today, which is statistically equal to almost 3% of the country's population. This means that at any moment a person suffering from this disease may cross the threshold of your office (salon, clinic) who wants, for example, hair removal, a massage course or a skin care procedure.

Psoriasis is a chronic, non-infectious disease that is not transmitted by contact and often has a wave-like course. It is characterized by the increased proliferation of keratinocytes, which leads to hyperkeratosis (thickening of the horny layer of the epidermis), and the appearance of inflamed red plaques on various parts of the body - most often on the hands, feet, trunk and scalp.

The skin of people with psoriasis, especially during periods of exacerbation, is prone to significant changes in its physical and chemical characteristics, as a result of which its barrier function is disturbed and moisture loss increases. It becomes dry, less elastic, prone to inflammation. Skin affected by psoriasis is characterized by accelerated renewal of the epidermis.

What should be cosmetics?

In addition to the actual treatment measures carried out under the supervision of a dermatologist, the skin of a person suffering from psoriasis must receive special "basic" care.

Today, there are a large number of medicinal cosmetic products for skin care. Modern creams contain various additives that modify their effect, which can additionally have an exfoliating, mild anti-inflammatory or anti-itching effect. However, the most important thing is to choose products that do not cause irritation and do not contain allergens for psoriasis skin care.
