Acne and diet
Vitamins, supplements, diets - what really works?

Can certain foods or supplements help with treatment?
If you work with clients with acne breakouts, you've probably heard recommendations to avoid certain foods, such as red meat, sweets, fruit, or dairy products. Maybe also tips to drink more water and eat more raw vegetables. But do these claims have scientific basis and clinical effect?
Of course, eating fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains in general is good for skin health. But how important is it for acne patients?
What is acne?
Acne is an inflammatory skin condition that occurs when the hair follicles under the skin become blocked. Sebum (lipids produced by sebaceous glands to protect and moisturize the skin) and dead skin cells block pores, forming comedones.
Comedones can enlarge, which leads to the appearance of rashes, which are called pimples, and scientifically - papules and pustules. Acne most often appears on the face, but it can also appear on the back, chest, and shoulders.
