Acne and diet: a modern perspective on the subject
What do we know today?

Proper nutrition is the basis of a healthy body. Let's find out the expert's opinion: does dieting really help in the treatment of acne?
Tiina Orasmjae-Meder, cosmetologist, developer of cosmetic formulas and protocols, author of beauty bestsellers "Beauty Myths" and "Science of Beauty", president and developer of the professional cosmetology brand Meder Beauty Science, teacher of international schools of cosmetology and safety of cosmetic products (United Kingdom)
What do we know today? The modern view of the problem of nutrition in acne was formed thanks to the research of epidemiologists. As it turned out, acne is much more common among residents of developed countries, where people (it would seem!) live quite comfortably, modern advances in medicine and high-quality food are available to them. In less prosperous countries, acne is much less common, although in the last decade the incidence rate has begun to rise there as well.
What is the matter? The main difference, characteristic of all groups, turned out to be the peculiarities of nutrition - that is, the diet seems to matter. In all groups, where an increase in morbidity was noted, there was a simultaneous transition to a high-calorie and "rich" Western Diet.
What products were found guilty?
As it turned out, the Western diet has several main features:
- There is a lot of sugar in the daily diet, including sugary drinks and flour products with sugar.
- Dairy products, in particular sweetened, with a high fat content, are used daily.
- It is customary to eat meat at least 3-4 times a week.
