Each master has personal professional habits and convenient life hacks in his work. In this article, our expert, Evgeniy Pecheritsa, talked about why he holds the scissors this way while cutting hair.

Evgeniy Pecheritsa , creative director of the HAIRDESIGN academy, international class master with 15 years of experience, creator of the HAIRDESIGN academy training system and the formation of the teaching structure.

During training and at master classes, students often ask me the question: “Why do you hold the scissors this way?”

My usual position of scissors in my hand is at an angle of 90 degrees relative to my hand. This allows you to cut layers of long hair in a more comfortable position, cut a line with better visibility of the cut and more conveniently work in hard-to-reach haircut areas.

But you can hold the scissors in two positions:

1. Classic Position – This scissors position requires the elbow to be raised at a 90-degree angle relative to the body. However, this position puts a lot of stress on the hand while working.

2. At an angle of 90 degrees relative to the hand (my method) - this position of the scissors does not require raising the elbow (elbows should be pressed to the body). Because of this, the load on the hand is minimal. The load on the thumb only slightly increases.

It is important to emphasize that any position of the scissors creates certain convenience in work and you need to be able to work with scissors in different ways. We will talk about this in the next article.
