Boxing and semi-boxing haircuts: differences and features
Expert explains
What is a boxing haircut, who is it suitable for and what practical conveniences can it bring to its owner - let’s look into the material together with our permanent expert.
With the arrival of hot weather and the desire not to have a haircut for as long as possible, clients turn to barbershops and ask barbers for short haircuts.
Such suitable haircuts can be, for example, “boxing” and “semi-boxing”. In addition, these are practical options that do not go out of fashion and remain favorites among customers.
Our regular expert Maxim Stifler spoke in more detail about the practicality of these haircuts, the difference between “boxing” and “semi-boxing,” as well as technical aspects.
Maxim Stifler – barber, owner of TheSketch barbershop chain
“The boxing haircut arose for the convenience of athletes, so that the mass of hair does not interfere and so that during a fight, for example, it is impossible to grab the hair. Of course, this is a very practical short haircut, which has quite high temporal and occipital areas, and from the top - a length of no more than 2 cm.
“Boxing” can be made with fade elements or with edging. The main feature of the haircut is the shortest possible temples.
“ Half-box ” is the same haircut, only with longer hair in the parietal area and with bangs, which, as a rule, are laid up. A special feature of this haircut is that it is easy to use for the client, as the hair is well textured.
This haircut lends itself to a variety of styling and different styling products. Although such options are practical, they have to be cut much more often, since the shorter the hairstyle, the faster it grows back and takes on a sloppy appearance.”
