Paula Alonso: “I like absolutely everything about being a hairdresser”
Interview with a hairdresser

Paula Alonso is a Spanish stylist and hairdresser at Salón Blue (in the province of Torrelavega), to whom we asked a few questions related to her favorite thing - hairdressing.
Just a week ago we published a cool black and white collection called Guilty, which was created by Paula Alonso. We had the opportunity to communicate with the master and ask about his career, favorite cities to work, and also learn about the peculiarities of the work of Spanish hairdressers.
- How did you get into hairdressing?
- I have been in the hairdressing business for ten years. I started my career at a fairly young age, but it was always clear to me which path I wanted to take – to grow professionally in hairdressing. And when the opportunity arose to go work in a salon, I agreed without a doubt, which I am now very happy about. I have the best workplace and the best teacher who helps me develop! What more can you ask for?
- What could make you quit your job in the hairdressing segment?
- Most likely, either a serious illness or an accident that will lead to unpleasant consequences. Then I will be forced to leave, but I sincerely hope that nothing like this will happen and that I can continue to work hard on myself and in my profession for many more years. Besides, I always said that Salón Blue is a part of my life, and if it had closed, then everything would have gone completely differently.
- What do you like most about your work?
- I like absolutely everything about my profession, really. Every day I learn something new from my team and clients, and it fascinates and motivates me to constantly improve.
- What are the main features of the work of Spanish hairdressers?
- One of the main characteristics that caught my attention the most is teamwork. We are all very close and this results in a high level of professionalism. This applies to both the national stage and the international platform. Spanish hairdressers show themselves with dignity all over the world.
- Which country do you like to work in most?
- I love traveling to the UK, especially London. This is one of my favorite cities in terms of trends and attitude. People here are very free and don't care what others think, and I love that!
- What do you like to create most (coloring, cutting, etc.)?
- As for haircuts, I like medium-length hair, bangs in the style of Birkin Bangs. It's a very elegant and stylish choice, but to me it makes women with short hair look super sexy. Overall, my choice is pixie.
- Question about the future: what trends will be relevant during 2020?
- Midi length hair will remain relevant (without a doubt, this is one of my favorite looks!). As for styling, soft waves will be the main feature. I'm a big fan of waves and hope they never go away! (Laughs.) Hairstyles with bright shades will also be in trend.
- What do you think are the most important qualities for a hairdresser?
- The first and most important thing for me is to be able to work in a team. Next, never give up. Be an entrepreneur, remember to smile and work hard. In addition, the hairdresser must be passionate about his work, for example, like me. Or even more if possible☺.
- Your secret of success?
- I think the most important thing is to work hard every day. I don’t give up and don’t lose the desire to work. At the same time, I always try to smile and surround myself with good people!
