Anna Kravchenko and Elena Kurchina about Ukraine Beauty Show 2021 and the championship movement
Interview with industry gurus
We asked Anna Kravchenka and Elena Kurchina about the large-scale event Ukraine Beauty Show, which starts tomorrow, and also talked about the championship movement and its development in Ukraine and beyond.
Anna Kravchenko and Elena Kurchina are the organizers of the Ukraine Beauty Show , the founders of the network of salons “Scissorhands”, the specialized training center “Scissorhands Academy of Salon Business Careers”, as well as international judges of the world championship in makeup and hairdressing OMC HairWorld. We decided to chat with the girls and ask them about the creation of a large-scale event for beauty industry professionals, expectations from the upcoming 2021 event and its surprises, as well as about the championship movement and its transformation during this difficult period.
How did you come up with the idea to develop such a large-scale event for beauty artists? Did you manage to realize everything you originally planned?
We wanted to create a narrowly focused event for makeup artists and eyebrow artists and bring together the best industry professionals. We believe that we have succeeded, and now we are setting new goals and objectives for ourselves! Every year our events become larger and more professional.
This year, the Ukraine Beauty Show includes many activities, including six championships for makeup artists and eyebrow artists. In your opinion, how important is it for masters to participate in competitions and fight for the status of winner?
We are convinced that championships are very important for specialists. First of all, this is titanic preparation and honing your skills to perfection. Secondly, this is international recognition and specialist status.
There is an opinion that championships are becoming obsolete, and young masters are increasingly chasing the number of followers on Instagram rather than the purity of their technique and victories in competitions. Do you think there is some truth in this?
Every year more and more specialists want to join our team. Instagram followers are a good thing, of course. But the number of subscribers does not indicate the professionalism and status of a specialist.
How do you think we can help the championships grow in popularity?
Multiple victories of our specialists and international recognition are the best advertising of the championships.
How can a master prepare to participate in such an event? What is important for a newcomer who comes to the nomination for the first time to pay attention to?
Work hard, study and set goals! At the “Scissorhands” Salon Business Career Academy, we conduct professional training before the championship and prepare real winners!
You also held online championships throughout the year. How does this format differ from offline, what are its pros and cons?
The biggest disadvantage is the lack of those exciting emotions that the winner receives during the presentation of the cup on stage in Paris. During the pandemic, the championship was held online, and cups were sent by mail.
One of the bright stars of the 2019 event was makeup artist Elena Krygina. Who will be among the VIP speakers at the Ukraine Beauty Show this year?
This year we have many VIP speakers: Evgenia Ezhova, Maxim Gilev, Irina Soroka and Evelina Zykh. And the host will be Alexander Ellert, a former bachelor and author of comedy shows.
What other surprises will await the guests of the event?
At Ukraine Beauty Show 2021, we increased the number of championships and activities, invited more speakers and representatives of international brands.
We remind you that the Ukraine Beauty Show will take place on June 16-17 at Pochayna Event Hall.
