What did you look like at 18?
MA-1 bomber jacket and sneakers. Tons of blush in a vibrant purple shade.
Who in your life taught you the most about beauty?
My mom. She was an unrivaled alchemist. She mixed pigments and powders to create shades that couldn't be bought, colors that worked harmoniously with skin tone - there was nothing like it at the time.
You have inspired so many people. Who inspires you?
Steven Meisel. He is dedicated to his work and watching him work is always a divine inspiration.
What film images have most influenced your work?
The list is endless. I love Dorothy Dandridge, Lauren Bacall and Barbara Stanwyck. Pam Grier, Lena Horne, Russ Meyer, Diana Ross, Divine, Visconti, Cocteau, John Waters, Buñuel, Almodóvar, Fassbinder, Godard and Hitchcock.
What non-makeup artists do you like?
I have always been deeply inspired by the French and German Rococo and Baroque styles of the 17th and 18th centuries, in particular the work of the architects of Nymphenburg and Versailles, mixed with Kubrick's A Space Odyssey 2001 and Besson's Le Cinquième Élément.
Person you most admire?
I adore Grace Jones.

"Bureau of Legends"
Favorite flower?
"Divine Rose" , of course!
When we can travel again, what place would you like to visit first?
A little heat might be nice, but I'm not like many of my friends! They just want to go somewhere. And I've been somewhere all my life. I once went from New York to London to Japan and back to New York in one week. I'm not running to the airport.

The perfume you always come back to?
I like to mix my scents with essential oils depending on my mood and what I'm doing that day.
What's the first thing you do when you wake up?
I have a cup of tea on the terrace and prepare for my 8am Zoom meeting.
Best habit you picked up during quarantine?
Studying new technologies. Instagram Live, Zoom... I'm obsessed.
And the worst?
Like many people, the snack drawer was too tempting.
What's the biggest project you've worked on at home?
I turned my bedroom into a home gym.
