Animal rights activists are rejoicing because the huge beauty conglomerate L'Oréal is refusing to use natural bristles in the manufacture of makeup brushes.

L'Oréal currently includes many well-known brands of decorative cosmetics, such as Lancôme, Yves Saint Laurent, Maybelline New York, Urban Decay, Shu Uemura and others. Today, the brand's lines include makeup brushes made from natural bristles, but L'Oréal representatives assure that in the future they will not use animal hair to make them.

The decision was prompted by animal welfare organization PETA and 80,000 other people who called on the conglomerate to ban the use of goat and badger hair in the production of brushes.

"l'Oréal Group's decision will help PETA push the beauty industry to use synthetic brushes rather than those made from badger hair," PETA France corporate responsibility officer Mathilde Dorbessant said in a statement.

Let us remind you that at the moment more than 100 beauty brands have abandoned the production of brushes made from natural bristles, replacing them with ethical synthetic materials. These include Sephora, NARS, Procter & Gamble and others.
