The company is helping to fight the coronavirus pandemic not only financially.

We have already talked about the contribution of the beauty and fashion industry to the global fight against COVID-19, but fortunately, every day the list of companies and brands willing to contribute to saving the planet is growing.

A few days ago, cosmetics conglomerate Estée Lauder donated $2 million to Doctors Without Borders to support countries with limited resources and those suffering from the direct threat of the spread of coronavirus.

The beauty company also provided a $75 million grant to create the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, which will support social service and cultural organizations impacted by the coronavirus in New York City.

Nancy Mahon, senior vice president of corporate citizenship and sustainability at Estée Lauder, said:

“We are constantly thinking about ways to support our employees and other communities. Collective action will be required to provide the help needed in these uncertain times,” WWD reports.

In more news from Estée Lauder, the conglomerate is opening a plant in Melville, New York, to mass produce hand sanitizers, which are in short supply across pandemic-hit countries. The company did not specify where exactly the finished products would be delivered, but indicated that they were intended for “population groups in need, including medical personnel on the front lines.”

“We are grateful to our employees who have worked tirelessly to get the hand sanitizer plant up and running as quickly as possible,” an Estée Lauder spokesperson said in a statement.
