Baking: all about fashionable makeup techniques
How to achieve perfection
Baking is gaining popularity every day, and all thanks to the perfect matte tone that can be achieved using this technique. We tell you what its essence is and how to create such facial makeup.
What is baking?
Baking (from the English baking - “baking”, “baking”) is a popular makeup technique with which you can achieve a completely even skin tone and a matte effect. The main products when performing it are concealer and loose powder. They seem to be “baked” on certain areas of the face that need highlighting. Baking will be especially useful if your client has oily skin or combination skin, visible enlarged pores, or noticeable dark circles under the eyes.
Previously, makeup makeup was created by professional makeup artists to ensure that the actors' skin looked perfect on screen. But over time, makeup artists mastered the technique and began to use it more freely to make their clients’ skin perfect. Baking was especially liked by makeup artists who create stage and everyday images of stars. The most ardent fans of technology are Dita Von Teese and, of course, Kim Kardashian.
When should you use baking?
Baking is a great option if your client needs long-lasting makeup that will look perfect throughout the day. A professional photo shoot, a concert, a television shoot, a gala event - those are the occasions when makeup using the baking technique would be appropriate.
The technique is best suited for girls with oily skin and enlarged pores, as these imperfections will be skillfully hidden. In other cases, baking will look unnatural and strange, so you shouldn’t get too carried away with it. It is absolutely not suitable for girls with dry skin and flaking, as powder will further emphasize these features. Baking should also not be used on aging and problem skin.
What is needed for baking?
To do makeup using the baking technique, you will need several beauty products. First, moisturizer to prep your facial skin. Secondly, a primer that will smooth out all the unevenness and help even out the tone. You can choose a fairly light foundation - this time it will not play a key role.
Two star products when doing backing are concealer and loose powder. We choose a concealer that is dense and pigmented enough to cover all color flaws. The most convenient way to use beauty products is in sticks - they are comfortable to apply, their texture is perfect, and they absorb powder perfectly. Loose powder should be matte, finely dispersed and long-lasting so that the skin looks smooth and velvety. Use transparent translucent powder for baking if all unevenness of color is perfectly hidden by concealer and foundation. If your tone still needs correction, pay attention to the colored powder options.
At the end you will need a highlighter or bronzer.
How to do it?
Step 1. Moisturize your skin with cream, not forgetting the area around the eyes. Wait a while for the cream to be well absorbed.
Step 2. Apply primer to even out skin texture. Choose a product depending on your skin type and the effect you want to achieve. Moisturizing and smoothing primers without a shine effect are best suited for baking.
Step 3. Apply concealer under the eyes in the shape of inverted triangles - this will highlight this area and make the eyes more expressive. Then apply concealer to your cheekbones, chin and middle of your forehead. It is best to blend it with a damp sponge to achieve a silky effect. Don't worry if the coating looks thick enough.
Step 4. Apply a thin layer of foundation to the parts of the face that were not covered with concealer.
Step 5. The next step is applying loose powder. Use it in areas covered with concealer. An important point - for application we use not the usual brush, but the same damp sponge. This way the coating will be truly “baked”, smooth and perfectly matte.
Step 6. Wait about ten minutes for the concealer to absorb the powder. Then go over your face with the sponge or brush again to remove any excess powder and lightly powder the areas where you applied foundation.
Step 7. Baking, contouring and strobing are often combined. But still, the classic option is to complete your makeup with a highlighter. Apply it to the upper parts of the cheekbones, the bridge of the nose, the middle of the forehead and the tick above the lip.
