Rosacea: pathophysiological mechanisms and external manifestations
Possibilities of cosmetic correction of the disease
A cosmetic defect that looks like redness - with thin vascular branches protruding, or "vascular spiders", inflammatory papules - is often a manifestation of a dermatological disease, namely rosacea.
Rosacea is a chronic recurrent disease, as a rule, of the skin of the face, which has a polyetiological nature and is characterized by a stage course, accompanied by redness of the skin of the central part of the face (erythema), expansion of small and superficial vessels of the skin of the face, swelling, formation of papules, pustules.
Patients with rosacea account for about 10% of all referrals to a dermatologist. Dermatosis usually begins at the age of 30-40, reaches its peak between the ages of 40-50, women are more often affected.
The pathophysiological mechanisms of the occurrence and development of rosacea are still the subject of scientific controversy. Numerous studies show the involvement of a large number of immune cells, proteases, blood cells, inflammatory mediators, antimicrobial peptides, which consistently lead to hypervascularization, inflammation, and hyperplasia of connective tissue and sebaceous glands.
