Menopause is a physiological phenomenon that every woman faces sooner or later. This condition is associated with hormonal changes in the body, primarily due to decreased ovarian function. The reproductive ability gradually disappears, and the body begins to function in a different mode, the level of hormones and their ratio change.

The skin, as a hormone-dependent organ, is a mirror of our body, and internal processes are reflected in many of its structures. Therefore, during this period, those phenomena that we are accustomed to calling age-related begin to progress.

It happens that changes in the skin caused by the onset of menopause occur very quickly, literally within one year. During this period, women most often observe rapidly progressing gravitational ptosis: the oval of the face changes, a second chin appears, the corners of the lips and eyes droop, wrinkles form around the lips, and the number and depth of facial wrinkles increase. Hirsutism may develop - excessive hair growth in women. Excessive fat deposition is often observed on the abdomen and waist. With the onset of menopause, previously diagnosed couperose and increased skin reactivity may appear or worsen. A common symptom is impaired skin healing, the appearance of specific pigmentation. The activity of the sebaceous glands decreases, the skin gradually becomes dry. Testing the skin of this age category using hardware methods shows a catastrophic (several times) decrease in skin elasticity, a decrease in moisture content and sebum secretion, an increase in the level of erythema (redness), and a change in microcirculation.
