Note to EM specialists: water-soluble vitamins
Importance of vitamins for health and beauty
Vitamins really have an undeniable importance - including for the beauty of our skin. For preventive purposes, it is simply necessary to use vitamins either in their natural form or in the form of preparations in order to maintain their amount in the body at an optimal level, which is one of the stages of systemic anti-aging therapy.
We continue the conversation about vitamins started in one of the articles. Water-soluble vitamins and their importance for our health and beauty are on the agenda.
The discovery of vitamin PP (vitamin B3, nicotinic acid and nicotinamide) is related to the study of pellagra. The model of experimental pellagra was proposed in 1917. Since then, the search for drugs that have a therapeutic effect began. Such a drug turned out to be nicotinic acid, which in 1937 was classified as a vitamin.
Vitamin PP is a B-complex component that is critical for energy production and supporting the body on many levels, especially for heart health and optimal circulation. It participates in more than half a hundred reactions during which sugar and fat are converted into energy. The vitamin is also necessary for the metabolism of amino acids and is involved in the conversion of fats into substances called eicosanoids, which are hormone-like agents that control the metabolic pathways of our body.
In addition to the function of a vitamin, nicotinic acid (unlike nicotinamide) also has a pronounced but short-lived vasodilator effect. This is manifested by facial redness, dizziness, a decrease in blood pressure, tachycardia, etc. Vitamin PP also affects lipid metabolism, reducing the content of cholesterol and free fatty acids in the blood.
