Instead of a showcase. Review of SUBJ - an application for cosmetologists that helps sell home care
The lion's share of a cosmetologist's time is spent on purchasing, prescribing and delivering home care to the client. Recently, the SUBJ mobile application has appeared, which offers to take over this whole routine. Let's figure out how safe the service is and how it works.
It is already necessary to make it a norm that a cosmetologist is not only about salon procedures. A modern cosmetologist is already a beauty and health advisor who will tell you how to balance your diet, refer you to the right doctor, and select care for every day. Correctly selected home care helps to consolidate and prolong the effect of injections and in-office procedures. Therefore, prescribing skincare cosmetics is part of the job, which also generates income.
Let's put ourselves in the client's shoes: she is not an expert in cosmetic formulations, and it is often difficult for her to choose cosmetics in a store. She would prefer to “strike iron without leaving the cash register” - order everything from her specialist. In this case, the cosmetologist can:
a) sell cream, mask, serum from what is already in stock;
b) order suitable cosmetics from the manufacturer at a distributor price.
The client receives cosmetics, the specialist receives additional income. Everyone is happy.
But there is one “but”: purchasing and delivering cosmetics costs too much time and effort for a cosmetologist. Instead of doing procedures, spending time with family or just doing what you like, you have to be a many-armed Shiva - answering calls, meeting with couriers and “calling” clients to give them orders.
For one client this seems like nothing. But when there are more than ten of them, it looks more like the work of a secretary rather than a cosmetologist. It is also worth remembering the risks: the cosmetics on the display may expire, the client will change his mind about buying, etc. It's no surprise that many estheticians are balking at the idea of offering at-home treatments.
In February 2020, SUBJ, an application for cosmetologists that helps avoid such tensions, was fully launched. How does it work?
- Sends the recipe to the client via SMS or messenger.
- The client pays for cosmetics from a prescription and receives the order by mail or home. Delivery from SUBJ is free.
- After this, the cosmetologist receives income. The percentage is the same as for direct cooperation with brands.
- A cosmetologist can withdraw income to a card, private entrepreneur, or buy cosmetics at the price of a specialist.
SUBJ does all the routine work: receives the product from official suppliers in Ukraine, packs the order in a beautiful box and delivers it to customers. This greatly simplifies the task for a cosmetologist, especially when working with several manufacturers.
Previously, to assemble a “salad” of brands, you had to call several managers and become a conductor for a choir of couriers. Now it’s a matter of a couple of leisurely clicks over a cup of coffee.
All data about recipes and clients is encrypted and stored on the server. There are also no questions about the quality of services - orders are collected quickly, the couriers are courteous and pleasant. In some ways, ordering through SUBJ is even more convenient for customers. Firstly, you don’t need to buy cosmetics right away. You don’t always have money with you for a purchase, or you need to think about it. And secondly, SUBJ delivers the package for free :)
For a cosmetologist, using the application is even more convenient. No to routine, yes to procedures that generate the main income.
Now the application is regularly used by 3000+ cosmetologists. The co-founders are sisters Ksenia Lapina and Ekaterina Malkova, well-known in the beauty industry. Reviews on Facebook and the application page give hope that a service has appeared in cosmetology that will become an impetus for the “digitization” of the industry. So we recommend you try and download the application .
