CoQ10 for skin: properties and health benefits
What do we know about coenzyme Q10 today?

Coenzyme Q10 is a new trendy ingredient in skin care.
Coenzyme Q10 is the new trending ingredient among so-called skin intellectuals – skin care enthusiasts looking for science-based information about cosmetics. It is called "the new powerful antioxidant", "energy enzyme" and is used mostly in anti-aging skin care formulas.
Coenzyme Q10 was discovered almost by accident. In 1957, an assistant to Professor Frederick Crane came across unknown yellow crystals on the walls of a test tube in his biochemistry laboratory at the University of Wisconsin.
The test tube contained materials extracted from bovine heart cells that had somehow transformed into these crystals. Crane's team studied the synthesis of cellular energy in the heart muscle, and the mysterious yellow crystals turned out to be the magical energy substance that sustains our lives.
Very similar compounds were discovered in plant cells some time ago. As it turned out, they were the main biochemical source of energy, which is produced in the mitochondria of almost every living organism on the planet.
