Machines for permanent makeup or "pens"? Quality and safety test
You need to approach the permanent procedure consciously!
Quality and safety vs cheapness. Let's compare the characteristics of the results of the operation of permanent makeup devices (on the example of German equipment) with devices of Asian origin (the so-called "handles")
The main problem with Chinese pens is the very low puncture accuracy. In terms of their technical characteristics, they can be compared with tattoo machines, which are not subject to such high requirements as face machines.
The permanent makeup machine makes punctures using a non-separable one-prong hygienic module. The puncture accuracy of such devices is due to the fact that the module is initially balanced at the factory, and the maniples use a patented engine with very low vibration. All of the above together and allows for almost surgical precision of the puncture.
And now let's try to provide a comparative description of the "pens" for tattoos (tattoo makeup) and devices for permanent makeup.
Devices for permanent make-up (on the example of German-made devices)
Most modern German devices have a system that adjusts the power of the device depending on the resistance of the skin, as well as adjusting the frequency of puncture and the depth of the needle, which allows you to implant the pigment as accurately as possible, regardless of the client's skin type. In addition, the movements of the needle are clearly balanced, there is practically no lateral runout of the needle.
Depth of pigment injection on permanent makeup devices: due to a specially selected, adjustable power of the device, the pigment is injected into the upper part of the dermis, to a depth of 0.5 to 1.5 mm, depending on the thickness of the stratum corneum of the epidermis.
The degree of soreness and bleeding on permanent makeup devices: with superficial damage to the skin, slight irritation of the nerve endings occurs, which is accompanied by a sensation of tingling, burning, tickling, the severity of which depends on the individual qualities of the client's nervous system and the sensitivity threshold of the nerve endings. After a properly performed procedure, the client does not experience pain. Only phenomena associated with the action of painkillers are possible - numbness and tightness of the skin in the pigmented area. When working at the level of the papillary layer of the dermis, capillaries of the superficial vascular network of the skin are damaged, which is accompanied by the appearance of "blood dew" on the skin surface - small drops of blood and lymph. This technology of work is called bloodless.
The characteristic features of the appearance of tattooing after working on permanent makeup machines include signs of a high-quality permanent makeup tattooing - the color is “clean”, without a grayish or bluish tint; the lines are even, uniform in brightness and color saturation. The structure of the skin is unchanged.
Devices that are designed for tattoos, but they are used for permanent makeup
Induction devices
In these devices, an electromagnet alternately attracts and repels a plate connected to a rod to which a needle is attached. The needle moves in a straight line, but the effect of its movement is reduced due to significant vibration. The induction apparatus is a traditional tool for a professional tattoo artist, which allows you to perform any operation: apply strokes, make a feathered line, work on areas with thickened skin. With the improvement of drawing techniques, apparatuses appeared that specialized in specific functions: contour machines and shading machines.
contour machine
The contour machine is lighter, since the contour is pricked with faster movements with less pressure; there are fewer turns of wire on the coils, the contact spring is shorter and stiffer. What does it give? A strong sharp blow and the same sharp return (the needle quickly penetrates under the skin and quickly returns back), so that the paint does not have time to blur under the skin and lays down in an evenly outlined line. This machine works faster, its sound is similar to the buzzing of a bee. When trying to paint over a more or less solid area with a contouring machine, the client's skin will look like minced meat.
Coloring machine
The tinting machine is heavier, its own weight allows for less effort to pierce the skin, there are more wires on the spools, the spring is longer and softer. While the needle is in the skin, the machine seems to “slip”, allowing the paint to blur in the subcutaneous layer. Such a machine works more slowly, but it also injures the skin less, allowing you to achieve tight clogging and high-quality coloring. If you try to make a contour with this machine, you will get thick blurry lines.
The depth of pigment injection on tattoo machines: tattoo machines are designed to work on the body, where the thickness of the stratum corneum of the epidermis is much greater than on the face. Therefore, when working on the face, the introduction of pigment with their help is carried out to a greater depth than necessary - to the middle of the dermis, and sometimes to the hypodermis (subcutaneous fat).
The degree of soreness and bleeding when working on tattoo machines is higher, with a deep penetration of the needle into the skin, the client experiences severe pain, which may persist for some time after the procedure. When the vessels of the deep vascular plexus of the skin are damaged, bleeding often occurs, which prevents the qualitative introduction of the pigment and contributes to the occurrence of hematomas. After the procedure, as a rule, there is significant swelling, which can persist for several days.
Possible side effects and complications when performing tattooing on tattoo machines:
- the appearance of scars on the skin, flat or retracted, sometimes hypertrophic, very rarely keloid;
- bluish dots or spots, sometimes lines, this phenomenon is associated with injury to large vessels in the skin.
Characteristic features of the appearance of a tattoo after working on tattoo machines: pigment injected deep into the dermis looks grayish or bluish, uneven blackouts are often observed. When particles of the coloring matter enter the hypodermis, “blots” are formed, because. pigment in fat cells is evenly distributed throughout the volume of fat vacuoles. Sometimes there is a slowdown in hair growth in the tattooed area.
And now back to modern tattoo machines . Such devices are light, work on them is well controlled, they have a more gentle mechanism in the design - thanks to all these innovations, the skin is less injured, and the work of the master is facilitated and its quality is improved. The ability to change the speed of movement and the reach of the needle prevents it from penetrating too deep, which allows you to apply even lines. This ensures uniform implantation of the pigment particles under the skin. The weight of the maniple in such devices is not large, only 80-100 gr. We are talking primarily about rotary machines, it is this type of apparatus that is most often used for PM.
The skin in different areas of the face has different characteristics, so each area of the skin perceives the mechanical impact in different ways. And this means that in order to carry out high-quality work in small areas (the red border of the lips, eyelids, etc.), a certain impact force is required so that the pigment is implanted to the depth that is required in this particular case.
