Creating a tattoo sketch: preliminary painstaking work
A sketch is the basis for any permanent makeup procedure.
To properly perform the procedure of permanent makeup of the face, you must first create the correct sketch. Only under the condition of skillful application of contours can you get the expected result and fully satisfy the wishes of the client.
The basis for carrying out any permanent makeup procedure is the availability of appropriate education, including special training for such procedures. Also, a good result depends on the correct application of the sketch of the future makeup.
A qualified permanent make-up artist first consults with the client, clarifying her ideas about the shape and color of the permanent. During such a consultation, the specialist, together with the client, determines the best option for the shape of the future tattoo and shades.
First of all, it is necessary to determine how close the proportions of the face are to the desired ones, as well as to the generally accepted standards of beauty. Measurement of facial proportions, analysis of its shape and structure allow you to draw lines more correctly and correct or hide possible minor flaws. We are talking about the so-called giving the face symmetry.
When the shape is determined, you can begin to select the color of the pigment. It is better to completely remove makeup from the face - otherwise the shade will be matched to the tone of the shadows on the eyelids, and not to the natural skin tones. The color scheme of permanent makeup is selected individually; it should both be combined with the general color type of the client, and correspond to his image.
Then sketches are planned for applying the upcoming makeup. The master needs such an initial sketch in order to make sure that future eyebrows or lips will not look alien on the client’s face and, most importantly, she will like it.
After selecting the color, a “rough drawing” is applied to the client’s skin, after which the master, having prepared and checked all the necessary tools, will be ready to start the procedure.
Refined technique
If you are doing a make-up of all areas on the client’s face, then experts advise starting to create a sketch from the eyebrows. For this, there is a wide range of special cosmetic pencils with a large number of pigments. When measuring the eyebrow with a flesh-colored pencil, a small markup is made. This procedure is optional, it is intended to determine the main points for applying makeup. Undoubtedly, the drawn eyebrows should be in harmony with the face of the client. The outer and inner edge of the eyebrow should be approximately at the same level. Do not make the color intense enough, even if the shape is optimally chosen - in most cases, clients do not like strong colors. Comb the tinted eyebrow several times with a special brush to remove excess paint from the hairs and make the line softer.
Once you've significantly altered the natural shape of your brow, use a skin-colored pencil to touch up hairs that don't fit the shape you've chosen, and apply light makeup. Start plucking eyebrows only after the client has finally approved the new eyebrow shape for permanent makeup. The exception is those single hairs that do not affect the shape of the eyebrow in any way - they can be removed immediately.
Perfect underlining of the eyelid
The shapes of the eyes of people differ significantly from each other, even if we are talking about residents of the same continent (for example, Europeans, Asians). Since the right and left halves of a person's face are different, it is unlikely that you will be able to find a client with two identical eyes.
With permanent eye makeup, you can apply a contour that will visually thicken the eyelashes. Thanks to a special method of pressing the eye, the contour for thickening the eyelashes is obtained better and more accurately. This technique makes the procedure easier, and the client feels much more comfortable. A thin line is drawn between the eyelashes. This is easier to do if the points are in series. Often it is not always possible to draw a thin line on the lower eyelid, even despite a sharply honed pencil. With the help of a cotton swab and a small amount of cosmetic milk, you can easily correct the line. At the inner edge of the lower eyelid, the line should be thin, you can emphasize it more strongly at the outer edge. Try not to go beyond the lash line. To give expressiveness to the eyes, you can slightly raise the edge of the eyelid.
When correcting the eyelids, it is important to take into account the shape of the eyes, otherwise round-shaped eyes may appear even rounder, small eyes narrowed, and slanting eyes will become sad.
Decorate the eyelid line in a decorative way. Remember: the line should not end in a strong bend, but it should not look too straight and broken. For greater clarity, first draw the outline of one eye and demonstrate to the client how you can emphasize the eye favorably by drawing up the line of the eyelid.
Beautiful lips
Coming to the master to correct the shape of the lips with the help of permanent makeup, most clients already have a clear idea of what shape and color of lips they want to have. As a rule, these ideas are formed on the basis of a long-term habit of applying makeup. Often, the former shape and color of the lips do not match the type of face and are not suitable for pigmentation. Some women only occasionally paint their lips and do not understand lipsticks.
Therefore, the master must give the client professional advice. Before performing permanent makeup, you should draw a lip contour. To do this, there is a wide selection of pencils, the shade of which differs depending on the type of skin, since the natural color of the lips affects the result of staining. On scarlet lips, the contour looks restrained and discreet, on pale lips it looks bright and fresh. Of course, in order to provide qualified advice, in addition to specialized knowledge, a specialist must have the ability to choose colors correctly.
Starting to draw the contour of the lips, first lightly outline the natural contour with a camouflage pencil and blend it with a cotton swab so that the drawn contour seems more distinct and the correction of the shape of the lips is noticeable. The shape must be selected with great care - it must be symmetrical and neat.
Always start drawing the outline in the center of the lip, having previously accurately determined its middle. At the same time, it is important to navigate not only in the middle of the lip and nose, but also in the general shape of the lips, since the asymmetry of the halves of the lips is often observed. Hold the pencil horizontally at the middle of the lip and trace along the upper lip towards the corner of the mouth. To outline the lower lip, make a relatively small horizontal line from the middle of the lip. The length of the line depends on the highest point of the beginning of the bend of the lip. Then draw a line to the corner of the mouth. Please note that the corners of the lips visually close only when the mouth is closed, so the contour of the lips should not connect at the corners of the mouth.
In order to imagine the shade of the lips, it is not at all necessary to completely paint the lips. It is enough to carefully rub the contour with a cotton swab in the inner direction. Only after you have blended the pencil on the lip, you can make a final assessment of the conformity of the form. To do this, you should carefully consider the drawn outline in full face and in profile. Moreover, the mirror should be large so that the whole face is reflected in it - this is the only way to notice errors, asymmetries. It is also recommended to check how the new contour behaves in a smile, in facial expressions, when talking.
Of course, in order to achieve professionalism in such painstaking and precise work, special training is required, during which it is important to gain additional practical skills in applying a preliminary contour, for example, ways to visually enlarge the lips, give them shine, and methods for adjusting the shape of large lips.
Take note
For the correct drawing of preliminary contours, consider the following rules.
• Cosmetic pencils for contouring should always be sharply sharpened - only in this case the contours are accurate. In addition, this is one of the hygiene requirements.
• Before the client sees the result in the mirror, check for yourself the correctness of the contour. Then, looking in a large mirror, discuss the work done together. Stand behind her to appreciate the big picture. Only after the client approves the pre-applied contours, you can consider that you have completed the preparation successfully and proceed with the permanent makeup procedure.
