We tell you how to properly prepare your nails for the procedure, decide on the extension method and carry it out to the highest possible quality.

In 2021, when time is our main resource, saving it and rationally using it becomes the main lifestyle trend. In the beauty industry too. That is why modern girls rely on nail extensions as a way to quickly correct defects in the nail plate and get the perfect manicure, which will also last not just a few days, but from 3 to 5 weeks.

Today we will talk about how to correctly carry out the procedure for modeling nails with gel and about the main nuances that every master must know and apply in their work.

Gel nail modeling: what it is and the main stages of the procedure

Nail modeling is the application of artificial material to their surface to strengthen the nail plate, make it stronger and give it a neat and beautiful look. Today, modeling nails with gel is considered the fastest and safest way to qualitatively improve the appearance of a manicure and hide defects in the nail plate - spots, irregularities, etc.

Before you start extensions, you need to prepare your nails for the procedure: disinfect and carefully file off the top layer to ensure good adhesion of the natural surface of the nail to the gel.

The next step and important nuance No. 1: degreasing the surface of the nails using special products - degreasers, dehydrators, pre-primers. These products act on average up to 30 minutes, so immediately after degreasing you need to start modeling. If you don’t do this, you will get the result in the form of poor adhesion of the material to the natural surface of the nail, which means a low-quality and short-lived manicure.

Important nuance No. 2: before choosing a modeling method, carefully study the client’s nail plate, its length and shape. So, for springboard-shaped and “bitten” nails, extensions using tips with a small contact area are best suited. For normal and even nails, you can use any of the extension methods, including gel modeling.

The gel coating is applied with a special brush in several stages. First, apply a thin layer of natural nail gel or base gel coat, which then needs to be dried under a lamp.

How to choose a lamp for gel nail extensions?

Let's start with the fact that there are two main types - UV and LED lamps. And here is an important nuance No. 3, which the master should take into account when choosing a lamp: LED LED lamps do not polymerize all gels, unlike traditional fluorescent lamps, which shine in the entire UV range, but, thus distributing their power, they work not so fast. Therefore, the best solution today is hybrid lamps, which have both LED and traditional bulbs, or LEDs and cold cathode lamps (CCFL, which emit the same wide range of ultraviolet light as traditional UV bulbs). Such lamps heat up less, polymerize all gels and last much longer.

So, after the first layer has hardened in the lamp, we move on to the second stage - building it up using a building gel. When applied to the nail plate, it remains motionless and allows you to obtain a durable but very thin coating. This step can be repeated twice, and then remove the sticky layer from the nails and adjust their shape.

And the last stage is the final gel coating, which will give your nails a healthy look and make their surface glossy. Voila, the perfect manicure is ready!
