As we have repeatedly noted, the fashion industry actively supports Ukraine in the war against Russia, which cannot be said about hairdressing brands. Some of them have now disappeared from the information space, the majority continue their usual work and still remain aloof from events.
However, isolated cases of a conscious position against war do occur. Toni&Guy recently announced its decision to suspend the trading activities of the label.m and Toni&Guy brands on its official Instagram account.
TONI&GUY is a British international hairdressing chain founded by brothers Tony and Guy Mascolo. The brothers opened their first salon in 1963 in Clapham, London (UK). In 1985, the company opened its first showroom outside of Europe - in Dallas, Texas (USA). Also launched a line of TIGI products. In 1990, the Toni&Guy hairdressing academy was opened.
As of 2019, the company had more than 485 salons in 48 countries. On March 12, 2022, company representatives published three publications on their Instagram, in one of which they reported their attitude towards Russian aggression on the territory of Ukraine and made their decision public: “We condemn the invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops and are horrified by the suffering of the Ukrainian people, which is increasing every day. Toni&Guy and label.m decided to suspend all trade and brand activities in Russia. We sincerely hope for a better future."
