With undisguised pride and gratitude, we continue to publish news about brands that can be classified as conscious beauty. The Keune Haircosmetics brand announced its decision to suspend its business in Russia and Belarus. Stand with Ukraine!

Thus, the Keune Haircosmetics brand definitely fell into this cohort of conscious beauty brands, because since the beginning of Russia’s war against Ukraine it has been trying to support Ukraine and Ukrainian hairdressers in particular in various ways.

Back on March 5, one of the founders of Keune Haircosmetics, Eelco Keune, noted in his official address:

“Keune Haircosmetics strongly condemns the invasion of Ukraine, which is causing so much suffering to the Ukrainian people. Therefore, Keune joins the Davines brand in their initiative to support those affected by this tragedy.
Keune contributes financially to the UNHCR (UN Refugee Agency), the International Committee of the Red Cross and a local initiative in Ukraine to help those who need it most.
In addition, we are working together with our local partners in Poland and Romania to support those who have been forced to leave their homeland.
Are you a Ukrainian hairdresser who is currently in Poland or Romania? Or do you know anyone? Please contact me or our local partners."
However, only on March 14, the brand owners made a very important decision to completely stop business in Russia and Belarus. The brand's head office stated that:
“Time for decisive and bold actions! Keune Haircosmetics company suspends supplies of Keune cosmetics to Russia and Belarus. Our brand cannot support the Putin regime and Russian aggression against the Ukrainian people!

Official message from the owners of the Keune Haircosmetics brand on Instagram

“Following our prior notice of the invasion of Ukraine, Keune Haircosmetics is issuing the following statement. In light of the ongoing situation, Keune Haircosmetics has decided to immediately suspend its business in Russia and Belarus. We regret that this will impact our valued colleagues and the customers and partners we serve in Russia and Belarus.

We see a clear difference between them and the actions of the Russian government. Although this represents 8% of our total exports, we feel a responsibility to ACT following Russia's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine and the unacceptable events we have witnessed.

As a family-run organization, we have always been committed to the well-being of families – all over the world. Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this tragedy."

On behalf of Keune Haircosmetics,

George Keune Sr. and Eelco Keune
