Use quarantine as a great opportunity to remind clients how to properly care for their skin in the spring. After all, perfect skin is the key to beautiful makeup!

Makeup and skin care are more connected than we sometimes realize. It is much easier to do makeup on flawless skin, and even after a few hours it will still look just as perfect. In this case, the makeup artist will direct all his efforts to emphasizing the advantages of the client’s appearance, and not to masking shortcomings.

What products to use for cleansing, whether to use a tonic, how to choose the right face cream - we answer in the material together with expert, dermatologist and cosmetologist Yulia Borzykh.

Cleansing

First, you need to choose the right cleanser. For girls with dry and sensitive skin, soft oil-based products are best suited: makeup remover milk, cleansing cream or hydrophilic oil. Girls with oily or problematic skin should take a closer look at cleansers containing alpha hydroxy acids and salicylic acid. Such beauty products will help cleanse the upper layer of the epidermis of dead cells, improve blood microcirculation and restore the skin.

Dermatologist's advice: “It is important that the cleanser does not change the pH of the skin and cleanses it thoroughly and carefully.”

Skin care in spring also involves the use of various exfoliation products. If the skin is not in the best condition, we recommend replacing scrubs with soft acid peels and serums, which cleanse the skin of dead cells much more carefully and gently. Such products can be used without consulting a cosmetologist only until mid-April, and you should regularly use creams and masks with an SPF protection filter.

Toning

The toner gently exfoliates the top layer of skin, smoothes it, removes residual cleansers, gives a feeling of freshness and prepares the skin for applying cream. Apply the toner to a cotton pad and wipe it all over your face and neck. You don’t have to wait for the product to dry completely and immediately apply the cream to slightly damp skin. Sprays and thermal waters are also suitable for this role.

Dermatologist's advice: “I recommend using sprays that contain minerals and vitamins. Such sprays moisturize, nourish the skin and promote transdermal delivery of creams.”

Hydration

Of course, spring skin care is incomplete without moisturizing products. Girls with very dry skin should pay attention to creams with probiotics, which can restore the microbiome, because a balanced microflora on the surface of the skin is the key to its health and beauty. Those with oily skin types should pay attention to lighter textures of creams that will not clog pores and create an oily sheen on the skin. Of course, vitamins and plant extracts in formulations are welcome in the spring.

Dermatologist's advice: “Before applying makeup, you also need to apply a moisturizer and a product with SPF 30. After this, apply a special cream with finely crushed silicone and a tone with a high pigment content, but without oils, and your ideal facial makeup is ready.”

Caring for the skin around the eyes

Remind your clients that taking care of the skin around the eyes is another important consideration. This area requires separate beauty products that will work most effectively.

Dermatologist's advice: “For thin eyelid skin with wrinkles and swelling, creams with muscle relaxant peptides are useful, which weaken muscle contraction for a short time, but due to the cumulative effect, the result can be quite lasting. Squalane increases skin elasticity, accelerates its regeneration, helps smooth out fine wrinkles and reduces swelling.”
