Eye patches are a lifesaver for a makeup artist if the client has swelling, dark circles under the eyes, wrinkles and just a tired look after a sleepless night. We will tell you in this article how to choose the best patches and how to use them correctly.

Patches under the eyes - what are they?

Eye patches are small masks soaked in beneficial substances that are created specifically for application to the area around the eyes. The patches are impregnated with a composition with a high concentration of active ingredients, which begin to work in full force upon contact with the skin under the influence of heat. These masks for the skin around the eyes act much faster than creams and serums, and therefore can tidy up the skin in just 10-15 minutes. They will help reduce swelling, make dark circles under the eyes less noticeable, smooth out fine wrinkles and, of course, effectively moisturize the skin.

Don't expect miracles from patches. They will not cope with genetically determined skin phenomena, pronounced wrinkles or swelling if your client regularly leads an unhealthy lifestyle. But they are quite capable of removing signs of fatigue, smoothing out small facial wrinkles and brightening the area around the eyes, which is why they are adored by millions of girls around the world.

Types of eye patches

There are several types of eye patches depending on their purpose:

Moisturizing patches fill the skin with moisture and vitamins, so after using them, the face looks fresher and more rested. Moreover, moisturizing eye patches can smooth out fine wrinkles.

Nourishing patches will cope with dry skin around the eyes and help it recover. As a rule, they are impregnated with a composition containing oils, retinol, plant extracts and pearl powder.

Draining patches are what is needed if the client has noticeable swelling under the eyes. Patches are not always able to cope with them 100%, but they can definitely reduce the manifestations of edema. Look for caffeine, peptides and hyaluronic acid in such patches.

Lightening patches will help make dark circles under the eyes less noticeable. As a rule, the composition with which such patches are impregnated includes caffeine, green tea and berry extract.

Smoothing patches can smooth out facial wrinkles and slightly “tighten” the skin so that it looks younger and more beautiful. Components such as green tea extract, peptides, caffeine, berry and algae extracts, collagen and coenzyme will help with this. You can also find in the assortment of brands soothing patches that restore, increase skin firmness and elasticity. It is advisable that your makeup artist's arsenal includes several types of patches that can be used depending on the condition of the client's skin.

Types of eye patches

Based on texture , hydrogel and fabric patches are distinguished. The first ones are made from a jelly-like mass - a hydrogel, which contains the necessary active ingredients. Fabric patches are made from non-woven fabric - they resemble cotton pads. Hydrogel patches best moisturize the skin and provide a lifting effect, since they most often contain a high content of hyaluronic acid. Fabric patches with collagen or gold are ideal for girls with dark circles and puffiness under the eyes. They will also make your skin appear firmer, tighter and more rested.

How to use eye patches

The modern beauty market offers us a huge selection of patches, both from European, Korean, Japanese and American brands. Of course, Korean eye patches are now incredibly popular due to their reasonable price and excellent effectiveness. So, how to properly apply eye patches?

Everything is very simple. First, cleanse the client's skin with micellar water, and then open the package and stick the patches with the sticky side, placing them under the lower eyelids (2-3 cm below the eyelashes). Leave the masks on the skin for 15-20 minutes so that the active ingredients have time to act and provide the desired result. Then remove the patches and distribute the remaining serum, tapping it into the skin with light patting movements.

If the client has dark circles and puffy eyes, place the patches directly under the lower eyelids. If the main purpose of their use is the lifting effect, move them closer to the outer corners of the eyes.
