Living glow: how to create makeup with the effect of dewy skin?
Makeup artist tips
Makeup with the effect of wet skin continues to appear in the accounts of beauty gurus and famous makeup artists. How to create it and what cosmetic products to use - we understand the material.
The effect of wet skin was loved by makeup artists a couple of years ago, because with its help, the client’s or model’s face seems to glow from the inside, the skin looks young, fresh and healthy.
Whatever one may say, the total popularity of the dewy skin effect is a merit of the Korean beauty industry. It was from there that the trend for perfectly smooth, glass-like skin with a dewy finish came to us. For Korean women, this effect is a classic standard of beauty, and this is what most local care products and decorative cosmetics work for. You won’t be able to achieve this result with a regular highlighter; a special approach is needed here.
Together with makeup artist Alena Antonova, we decided to figure out whether makeup with the effect of wet skin will remain in trend, how it can be created and what products to use, as well as when such makeup will be appropriate, and in which cases it is better to abandon it.

Is the dewy skin effect still a trend?
The dewy skin effect is becoming a classic, but it is especially popular in spring and summer. At this time of year it is important to add a bronzing effect to it. This trend remains popular for creating a portfolio or thematic shoots, but matte makeup is now in demand in commercial makeup.
What products are needed to create it?
To create a dewy skin effect, cream products are needed, and the use of powder should be kept to a minimum. Use more liquid highlighters and glosses. For example, among glosses that can be applied to the eyes, pay attention to PROMAKEUP laboratory GLASS UP (“liquid glass”). Among the top products for the face is Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter.

Previously, I added cosmetic oil to foundation, mixed it and applied it to the skin. This mix of products gave the desired effect and looked beautiful in the photo. Now there are many special decorative oils, for example, from PROMAKEUP laboratory - they can be added to foundation or used on top of it. I like to use my fingers to stuff it onto the convex parts of my face - the effect is amazing!
What features are important to consider?
There are two options for creating the effect of wet skin - for life and for photos. If you are creating makeup for a photo, then you can make it unstable and use a lot of liquid textures.
If the effect of wet skin needs to be “wearable”, then the makeup should be more fixed. In this case, you cannot do without a long-lasting liquid highlighter - for example, Cover FX, or powder.
The main rule of makeup with the effect of wet skin is that there should be no glitter on it, only a neat, vibrant glow!
