Ideal proportions: lip shape correction using makeup

Every time a girl comes to a makeup artist, she dreams of leaving the salon as a real beauty. And if the client doesn’t like her narrow lips, asymmetrical contour or lack of volume, the makeup artist should carefully correct the natural shape of the lips and set the desired one - in this case, the makeup will look more perfect, and the girl will leave you satisfied and happy. The main thing in this matter is not to overdo it and not to draw a “clown smile”.

Before you start correcting your lip shape with makeup, it’s worth remembering a few important rules.

• Firstly, you need to set a new shape only on flat areas, otherwise the intervention will be too noticeable and unnatural.
• Secondly, it is important to choose a pencil in a shade that will ideally match the color of your lips or lipstick if you plan to apply it.

But it is important to remember that, in addition to the well-chosen lipstick color, the way your lips are painted also plays a huge role. And here we are not talking about accuracy, but about correcting the shape.

Many girls are used to thinking that the ideal is big, plump lips. But they are not suitable for everyone. Therefore, it is always better to slightly correct and slightly correct the natural shape of the client’s lips so that the face looks harmonious.

Lip shape correction

• If the lips are narrow, you need to draw a contour slightly higher than the natural one: the upper lip up to 2 mm, the lower lip up to 3 mm. At the same time, you should not bring the contour to the corners.
• If the lips are small, then, in addition to enlarging them along the contour, you can adjust their size with color. In this case, the ombre technique is perfect, when the corners of the lips are darkened, and lighter shades are used in the center.
• If the lips are very large, you can reduce the natural contour by 1-2 mm throughout the entire shape.
• If there is obvious asymmetry of the lips, you need to disguise the natural contour with foundation and draw a symmetrical one with a pencil.

How to paint lips: technique

The lip coloring technique is very simple. First, you need to moisturize your lips with balm so that the products fit perfectly on them. After this, take a pencil tone-on-tone or one tone darker than the lipstick color and carefully apply it along the contour. For a more lasting makeup, fill the entire area of the lips with it. Then apply lipstick using a brush - you can lightly blot it with a napkin and apply gloss on top.

And a few more important tips.

• If the client’s lips have an unclear contour, use foundation or a special base before applying lipstick or gloss. And, of course, in this case you can’t do without a contour pencil.
• If a girl has drooping corners of her mouth, you need to use makeup to distract attention from this feature. When drawing the outline, skip the corners of the lips so as not to focus attention on them.
• Choose pencils and lipsticks in soft natural shades for a perfect makeup look.
