The final quality of a haircut is influenced by many factors, one of them is the parting on the client’s head. Every hairdresser needs to know how partings can affect the quality of a haircut.

Our regular expert on haircuts, creative director of the HAIRDESIGN Academy, an international class master with 14 years of experience, the creator of the HAIRDESIGN academy training system and the formation of the teaching structure, Evgeniy Pecheritsa , spoke about partings and how the shape and quality of a haircut depend on them.

In the process of creating a shape, consistency and precision play an important role; without this, the haircut will not be of high quality. Partings influence the construction of the form, and they also help ensure that the master does not make mistakes.

If the parting is uneven, then there may be problems with the balance or quality of the cut of the shape, and even if the master is subsequently able to correct the mistake made due to the uneven parting, he will spend a lot of time correcting the shape.

How exactly do partings affect a haircut?

Horizontal parting: Accumulates more mass and weight in the haircut.

Diagonal parting: accumulates more volume and is comfortable for connecting two zones in a haircut.

Vertical parting: removes volume and weight from the haircut.

Note! A wider parting means more extension (heavier) in the haircut silhouette. The longer the parting, the more elongated (flat) the silhouette of the haircut.
