We figure out how to choose a haircut based on the client’s face shape, and also offer a graduated bob haircut technology option.

Graduated bob is a combination of a classic bob and a cascade. These are shortened strands at the back of the head with extension towards the temples and a cutout with peculiar teeth framing the face. Let us remind you that the classic version of the bob provides an ideal even cut, while in the graduated version the line is more like a ladder.

A mandatory element of a graduated bob is shortened upper strands with a smooth transition to elongated ones.

How to choose a haircut option depending on your face shape?

Let's focus on all face shapes except oval, since the oval face shape is optimal for all haircuts.

Round face shape. If a graduated bob is performed on a round face, then one of the goals of the haircut will be to compensate for the lack of volume in the upper part of the head.

Choose an asymmetrical haircut and side parting. Remember that strands on the sides below the chin narrow and lengthen the face. If the client wants to have bangs, then opt for long oblique bangs, styled with volume at the roots.

Square face shape. To harmonize this shape with a haircut, you need to visually elongate your face and smooth out its contour. To do this, you need to add more volume to the upper part of the head, and also make oblique, torn bangs (or not cut them at all). Avoid straight parting; in this case, asymmetry is everything.

Triangular face shape. She is distinguished by a wide forehead, sharp chin and unexpressed cheekbones. This shape can be framed with bangs, but it is desirable that they be oblique and torn. It's important to hide the ears because they add extra width to the upper area of the face.

How is a graduated bob haircut performed?

We wash and comb our hair. We divide the entire mass of hair into three zones: crown, temporal and occipital. We secure the crown and temporal zones with clips, and start cutting from the back of the head.

In the occipital area, select the middle part of the hair and make a control cut without pulling. The first layer of hair is cut in all areas along the control cut.

In each zone, we separate a layer of hair with a horizontal parting and cut it off so that the next layer overlaps the bottom layer. You need to start cutting your hair from the neck, gradually move to the temporal zones, and only then – the crown and bangs.

Graduation of strands. To begin, shake your head, comb your hair in different directions and eliminate strands that have strayed from the main mass. Graduation is cutting the hair at a certain degree of inclination of the scissors, resulting in a noticeable transition from one length to another.

At the final stage, the haircut is styled using a hairdryer and brush or any other styling for a beautiful final look.
