From Andy Warhol's studio to Mick Jagger and even Kodak film, hairdressers find inspiration in many trends of the 20th century. The 2019 “Factory” collection from Candice Mckay is no exception.

The Factory collection from Candice Mckay is a colorful and nostalgic exploration of the 1970s. Inspired by old family photographs that hold memories of simpler times when society felt less jaded and people could change the world. The Factory takes its name from Andy Warhol's factory or studio, as it was a gathering place for intellectuals and playwrights, bohemians, rock stars and freethinkers. In the heyday of the 70s, the studio was visited by such muses as Edie Sedgwick, Mick Jagger and Debbie Harry. Many were photographed by iconic photographer Nat Finkelstein, and his images also greatly influenced the Factory collection.

For Candice Mckay, it was important that the color palette of the collection was not the faded tones of photographs. It should bring images to life using, for example, the shades of the then new Kodak color film.
