Is it possible to create balayage coloring on short hair? What length would be optimal to display this technique? Read the material.

The balayage technique creates new shades that are close to the clients natural hair color. The accent and stretch of color in the technique is created by light shades at the ends of the strands, and the paint is applied in the form of the letter V. The brush is held with an edge, and its movements resemble brush strokes when drawing or movements with a broom. Read more about the features of balayage in Beautypedia.

If we talk about the most suitable, but at the same time short, length for coloring using the balayage technique, then this coloring fits well on a bob haircut, ideally on an elongated bob. It will definitely be impossible to create a balayage if the given hair length is 3 cm.

How to do balayage on short hair or on a bob with lengthening:

  • dye individual strands;
  • apply paint to all curls, starting from the roots;
  • We paint only the ends.

For short hair, a good option would be to dye individual strands at the back of the head, bangs or face.

How to create balayage coloring on short hair?

We divide dry hair into several even sections.

Starting from the back of the head, apply the coloring agent to the selected strand using vertical strokes. Depending on the chosen method, we paint either the ends or the entire strand, retreating a few centimeters from the roots. The main thing is that the paint applies unevenly, chaotically to create that same effect of burnt hair.

Dyed strands must be left for a certain amount of time (this depends on the manufacturer), wrapped in foil or without it. Classic balayage coloring does not involve the use of foil, but with its help you can speed up the lightening or coloring process.

Next, we leave the composition on the hair for the required time, and then proceed to tinting, depending on the shade chosen by you and the client.
